MS009 - Pointwise estimates and related techniques for hybridizable numerical methods

Organized by: W. Qiu (City University of Hong Kong, Netherlands) and H. Chen (Xiamen University, China)
Keywords: hybridizable methods, pointwise estimates
Pointwise estimates and related techniques (W^{1,p} estimates, etc) are important in numerical analysis of partial differential equations. They are not only critical in pointwise tracking optimal control, but also applicable in several nonlinear PDEs (incompressible Magnetohydrodynamics, etc). In this minisymposium, speakers will focus on pointwise estimates and related techniques for hybridizable numerical methods like hybridizable discontinuous Galerkin method, hybrid high-order method, virtual element method, etc. We would like to emphasize that due to the non-conformity of these numerical methods, significant theoretic difficulties may rise, such that these estimates for hybridizable numerical methods are not simple analogues of those of conforming methods.
